Srinagar, Nov 10 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) Tuesday asked the Centre to restore ‘Statehood’ and then conduct elections so that the issues confronting people of the erstwhile State of J&K on the ground are addressed in 'democratic' manner. Apni Party vice-president, Ghulam Hassan Mir according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) also welcomed People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) for its decision to contest the upcoming District Development Council (DDC) polls unitedly. He said that his party never supports the Governor's rule as the same cannot be an alternative to democratic setup. Mir said Apni Party would contest upcoming DDC elections for the larger development and planning of districts. “We demand Statehood to be restored and then elections should also be conducted so that the issues confronting people on ground zero are addressed properly. My party has never endorsed Governor’s rule as the same cannot be an alternative to Democratic setup,” Mir told reporters at party headquarters here. Criticizing the PAGD for falling to bring any major revolution by detaching themselves from the political process post August 5, 2019 episode, Apni Party leader said they were of the opinion that the joint forum of regional political parties would do something ‘unexpected’ but nothing of the sort was witnessed on ground so far. He, however, said the participation of PAGD in upcoming DDC polls is a welcome step and that his party endorses the move without playing any politics. “I welcome their decision of contesting DDC elections. We were of the opinion that they will do something unexpected after separating themselves from the political system, bring some revolution but nothing of the sort was witnessed on ground,” Mir said—(KNO)
